In Spring 2019, emerging lyricist / composer team Lauren Tazlitz and Danny Ursetti were charged with composing material specifically for our students. A prompt was created that elicited personal stories from the eight actors cast for the project, a surprising and emotional process produced an enriching and electric song cycle. We performed the work as a late-nite cabaret experience in Coastal’s Singleton Ballroom, with a cash bar, carefully scheduled to begin following a weekend performance of A New Brain, written by the mentor of our guest writers, William Finn.
